Let's Duet TogetherThe Exotic Family never seems to rest - just take The Priestess and The Fool, for example. Brian Grosz and Meredith DiMenna have come together (along with a bevy of ER backing musicians) to record a series of duet cover-songs from over the years. They've dabbled in a little bit of everything, from the classic Ella and Louis gem "Gee, Baby, Ain't I Good To You?" all the way up to "Back and Forth" from modern day retro-rockers, Earl Greyhound.
The six-song EP, titled "A Minor Work," is slated for a January release and we might even just make it available for free for a limited time. After all, it worked for Radiohead... Go check out their myspace account - myspace.com/thepriestessandthefool November 7, 2007, 3:01 pm
Great Reviews are Good News for ExoticPack leader of Dogs of Winter, Brian Grosz' solo debut "Bedlam Nights" has done more than just impress Twisted Sister frontman and talk radio host Dee Snider... "Clever instrumentation and experimental vocalization a la Mike Patton...Grosz's distinct voice and phrasings shine brighter than usual, revealing the underbelly of the life you only can see in the shadows of the elevated train or through the thick fog of the city late at night." Read the Pop Syndicate review here Saint Bernadette continues their musical pilgrimage towards heaven, and they've now been canonized by the Bible of Music with 4 out of 5 stars... "Turn the lights down low, burn some incense, and lose yourself in Saint Bernadette's intense yet lithe charms." Read the scripture here If you're still feeling that hunger in your soul it's because you haven't yet experienced Jar-e's "War Songs and The Muse"... "Anyone who’s caught one of Jar-e’s recent shows—lush with keys, horns and lyrically emotive vocals—can vouch for the performers’ uncanny skill at distilling the best of vintage Motown and finishing it with tasteful, modern touches." BRIAN GROSZ DOING WHAT HE DOES BESTJuly 27, 2007, 2:39 pm
Rave Reviews for Brian GroszBrian Grosz continues to capture audiences of surprising musical persuasions, creating songs "about topics that most people don't like to think about... in a way that is engaging to even the most unlikely of listeners." Billboard Mobile Beat Blogger and "unlikely listener" Dave Chung gives a fantastic review to Brian's performance at the Cat Club in West Hollywood, CA: "The very haunting, near jazz-like sound paired with Brian's controlled use of his lower register... made it obvious that this show was going to be unlike any other that I had ever attended... [I]t became progressively more clear to me why fans gravitate towards Grosz's dark brand of rock music." Check out the entire dazzling review here, and don't forget to stay posted on upcoming performances by Brian Grosz! July 9, 2007, 3:51 pm

Exotic Goes to CannesYesterday the winners of the Moving Pictures Magazine Short Film Contest – Spring – 2007, Cannes Edition were announced. Roland Becerra (whom Exotic followers will know as the cover artist of J. DiMenna's "Awkward Buildings" LP and the director of his video for "Preacher") and his short film DEAR BEAUTIFUL were selected by the judges as the ANIMATION PRIZE WINNER. The winner in each category will be flown to the Cannes Film Festival later this month, and their work will be featured in the Moving Pictures section of the Short Film Corner at the Festival.
Exotic is so proud and excited to be a part of this project. Our in-house producer, Keith "Touch" Saunders, was responsible for the original music composition, sound recording, sound mixing and foley. J. DiMenna's song "To Meet You" features prominently in the opening sequence. And Tom DiMenna's voice appears throughout as the sound of the media weighing in on the film's strange events. Voting is still open for the The audience Choice Award, so please visit the website, check out the short, and give your vote. Click here to view Roland's Short film DEAR BEAUTIFUL PLEASE NOTE- the page is getting lots of traffic so if the movie player doesn't appear -hit refresh/reload on your browser until it does. "Ode to Fredo" sweeps the IviesThat's right, 'Ode to Fredo' continues to win over the hearts and minds of film lovers all over the nation as well as more accolades from decision-makers and insiders. This weekend, 'Ode to Fredo' won best film in the Comedy category at the Ivy League Film Festival, a very chi-chi get together of Ivy Leaguers and wannabes (we don't judge here at O'Daniel as our family contains members of both categories) that you can read more about here.
Esteemed judges and panel members included Sarah Flack (editor - Marie Antoinette), Doug Liman (director - Swingers), Larry Andries (producer - Six Feet Under) and a host of other people we've always wanted to know. Our good pal and 'Ode to Fredo' co-director, Zeke Hawkins, was there to soak up the accolades and reports say that he has grown two inches as a result of the experience. His roomates have cut open the doorway to make sure he can get in the apartment when he returns. April 12, 2007, 11:53 am
Meredith Nails ItMeredith, lead singer of Saint Bernadette, made a little known appearance on the new album from NY DJ Black Panther that was called out in a recent review on popmatters.com.

Eddie Pep on Conan, Kimmel and SilvermanEddie Pepitone made the rounds this month with appearances from coast to coast on the who's who of comedy TV.
He reprised his role of the "upset audience member" a crowd favorite on Conan before heading off to take part in Tell Your Friends! a weekly show that Time Out NY says is a "Don't Miss". Eddie participated with Todd Hanson, head writer for The Onion, Leo Allen, Brian Riley and more. He appeared for a week as "Eddie the Red Carpet" for the pre-Oscar lead up on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE. Check it out - here! Somehwere after that he also appeared as himself on the runaway comedy hit "The Sarah Silverman Program". I'm telling you, we can't keep track of this guy. SPORTS ILLUSTRATED TOUTS TOM DIMENNADecember 19, 2006, 4:35 pm
Touch in the SunDid you know Touch was in Key West all summer long? Well, neither did he. For several seasons now, Touch's beats have had audiences' heads nodding through drunken pillow fights and breakup scenes on MTV's Real World. If you've suspected that sound was familiar, then you've definitely been watching too much reality TV...but you were right.
Touch's music has also been featured on over 14 episodes of Real World (Austin and Hawaii), and Inferno. It's these small contributions from the world of pop culture that keep our small company alive. Thanks MTV! December 8, 2006, 2:30 pm
EDDIE PEPITONE ON JIMMY KIMMELFor those of you who may have tuned in Dec. 5th, we offer our heartfelt apologies. Eddie's appearance on Kimmel has been rescheduled for January 5th. Don't miss it!

Post CMJ Wrap UpExotic Recordings' assault on the world begins now. The rain on our gear was a baptism, the new Exotic, Ice Exotic, Power Exotic . . . you get the idea.
We saw all of you hopefuls, clutching your overstuffed bags of random shit, cutting your fingers on your custom printed cd openers, trying to shove your random cds into the hands of industry people with their heads down trying to walk past you without catching your eye! That'll never be us, that'll never be us. That'll never be, never be us. NO... NO, NEVER, NEVER, EVER. And don't you EVER THINK IT. This year we dispensed with all of our hopes and dreams and turned our energies toward what's really important - drinking booze paid for by others more fortunate than ourselves. And when that wasn't available, just drinking booze. We were just looking for a dare to be great situation. The Oct 31 show was a cool, calm, and collected cocktail party, highlighted by sets from our southern visitors including Tyler Ramsey from North Carolina and These United States from the nation's capital. The Nov 2 show was family night, with most of Exotic's roster in the house, Meredith's brother and stand-up comedian, Brian DiMenna at the mic, and various and sundry friends and associates keeping the club nice and full all night. We gave them our hearts, they gave us a pen. Actually, we gave them more than our hearts, as all attendees were sent home with the exclusive CMJ release "The D.I.Y. Diss" featuring clips of your favorite Exotic artists, narrated with critical commentary by comedian Eddie Pepitone, producer Peter Katis, and Dave Schneider of The Zambonis. Nobody thought it would work, but we just described every great success story. You don't believe me? Check it out here. So the madness is over and we at Exotic are going back to doing what we do best: making music. Because, you know, we don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. We don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, we don't want to do that. October 10, 2006, 8:14 pm
Eddie Pepitone on Myspace ComedyThe Vancouver blogs are still buzzing about Eddie Pepitone's performances at September's Vancouver Comedy Festival: "Eddie Pepitone just rocked the joint . . ."; "Eddie Pepitone was his usual hilarious self"; "He did at least fifteen minutes but I know everyone wished he would have done more" and Myspace has answered the call. His other television experience includes the first season of Last Comic Standing, the series Malcolm in the Middle, King of Queens and he is currently in the second season of FX´s hit show Always Sunny, produced by Danny DeVito. The New Year came and went and we worked through the whole thing. In fact, the little elves here at Exotic will be stuffing packages for the next two weeks in a manner that will make Santa's workshop look like a roadside fruit stand.
January news includes the selection of JASCHA EPHRAIM's self-titled album into the CIMS listening booth program, which means that Jascha will be featured in listening booths at 55 stores nationwide. This has us very excited, so check back soon for news about Jascha's full length DVD, '3D Business Trip'. In other news, PLANESIDE, will be touring the southeast through January and February. Check their MySpace page for details. Keep an eye out for the Anti-Valentine's day release of Dogs of Winter's inspired cover of Chris Isaak's classic tune "Wicked Game". More news to follow. For everyone who packed into Bobo's Gallery in Asheville last week for the double bill of J DiMenna and Jar-e - we love you and thank you very much. We are very proud that this show emptied the bar of beer. Great job! December 8, 2005, 2:26 pm
No matter what Bill O'Reilly says, it is the Holiday Season, and we are going to keep it festive for non-believers and the hopelessly deluded alike. How are we going to do this? By lowering prices, of course! So, low we're practically giving it all away. Visit the Exotic Store for bargain basement prices on The Saucers, Jascha Ephraim and the Nervous System. What more could your friends and family ask for than cds of brand new music to open their ears and minds?
In other news, Maude Maggart's show on December 2nd was an AMAZING success. Her performance truly astounded people, sending them out like zombies to the lobby during intermission to snap up her three albums in droves. We can't wait to have her back to Bridgeport this spring. Keep a look out for Amy Tobin and her new group, A Little Friction, performing December 23rd at Mo Pitkins in NYC. Their new release "When Sparks Fly" will be officially released with a San Francisco event on Valentine's Day 2006. November 11, 2005, 12:00 pm
For the 85 suckers who paid to get into the Dogs of Winter CD release party we send you appreciative howls and whistles in registers that only you can hear. The Dogs did not disappoint, sending audience members reeling into the street, reeking of whiskey and mumbling about spurs. Check out the Dogs' new EP "Cut Down to the Quick" immediately.

For everyone who saw Jascha Ephraim's showcase this year at CMJ, this will come as no surprise, but for everyone else, word is that Jascha's videos for Baby Time/Get With My Girlfriend are causing a stir in the offices of none other than Vice Magazine. For those of you unfamiliar with Vice, it's extremely rare that Vice would be surprised, shocked, or impressed by much, but Jascha has done it. Unfortunately, I cannot show you these videos just yet, first I have to consult with my lawyer and review some internet decency laws, but keep your eyes erect . . . wink wink. Look for Jascha's videos on the Vice Magazine CD/DVD this November.
Things have been surprisingly surprising the past few weeks in Connecticut, what with Moby's art show and the fact that Meredith was brought on stage to sing "Sweet Child O Mine" while Moby rocked along in the part of Slash. Don't believe it? It's all right here. But, honestly that will pale in comparison to the November 18th Bridgeport Above Ground concert when Exotic Recordings will host their personal guitar hero, Marc Ribot, in an exclusive solo concert. Check the events page for details and check the MySpace page for pics from last week's show with Loser's Lounge. October 21, 2005, 9:42 am
Last week's Billy Miles show was a smashing success. 200 fans packed into the playhouse and first got themselves rocked by 17 year old Bridgeport native, Ashliee Luckett who brought the house down. Things were kept rolling by hosts, C Boogie and his man Tre. Billy took the stage and truly won over the crowd - by the end of the night she had sold out of cds and signed autographs for everyone who bought one. Check the MySpace page for pictures.
So, you know the deal, this series is happening - we expect to see you tonight at the Loser's Lounge TRIBUTE TO STEVIE WONDER. October 11, 2005, 7:13 am
Lots of news this week.
C Boogie just finished up a track with the one and only, Butta Verses, who took time out from touring with COMMON and JOHN LEGEND to do this track which will be heard on the NEXT SPIT cd from the fine people at SpitKicker. Jar-e's been in the studio for two weeks perfecting tracks for his upcoming album with some guest vocals from C Boogie and our friend, Darian Cunning. Meredith finished up her hook for the title track on the newest album from Black Panther, Brooklyn based DJ who has been featured in Elemental Magazine and whose previous album on Third Earth Records contained cameos from none other than the first lady of underground hip hop, Jean Grae. Jascha has completed the Tour of Meticulous record keeping, playing to packed houses, drunk retired frat boys, nerdy bookworms, and scarce Canadians. His efforts landed him a 4 star review in URB magazine and the satisfaction of honestly shocking most people who came in contact with his original videos. Look for a sample on the November issue of Vice Magazine's CD/DVD compilation. Bridgeport Above Ground kicks off this Friday, check the SPECIAL EVENTS page for details. Don't miss this week's performance from the "next big thing", sultry chanteuse Billy Miles. September 20, 2005, 12:37 pm
CMJ is over and we just made it. The steady stream of adrenaline as well as other ingested chemicals proved to be exactly what we needed to jumpstart the fall season. We nearly fainted when we caught Jascha Ephraim's 4 STAR review in this month's URB Magazine, and then we started hyperventilating when our CMJ showcase starlets, My Only Hope, were written up in The Deli, Hits Daily Double, and NY Press. The free SPARKS energy beer/poison that was flowing through the conference gave us the courage to approach people in suits and others with impressive names on their badges until the caffeine/guarana wore off and we were left in a semi-conscious coma with our mouths hanging open. But the music at the Hotel Cafe showcase at the Living Room eased our pain and got us hyped enough to venture into the Vice party at Cake Shop (new favorite venue) where we relished in the sounds of bands that we couldn't see above the heads in the crowd.
Hope to see you all at Mics of the Roundtable on Wednesday night and stay tuned for info on the upcoming shows of Bridgeport Above Ground. August 30, 2005, 8:59 am
It was the summer of hip hop and soul, but will be the fall of rock, at least for Exotic Recordings' newest addition to the family, and Fairfield County Weekly's Best Hard Rock Band, Planeside. Coming off a performance at the Toyota Arena, opening for Lit at TUNERWAR , the group just finished remixing some tracks from their upcoming album, at Bushwick Studios, now best known for their mixing work on The Bravery - the most hated, but yet still gold selling (because it sounds so good!) band in rock n roll. We're all gearing up for the CMJ Music Marathon, so don't miss the showcase, September 15th at Don Hill's, where you will see all of Exotic's finest including Planeside, J DiMenna, C Boogie, the first ever NYC appearance of Jascha Ephraim and a visit from our favorite blond, the lovely, Emily Zuzik.
In other news, it was a great week for Mics of the Roundtable - another packed show. Don't miss the next one, SEPTEMBER 21! August 15, 2005, 11:11 am
Well, by now everyone knows that Jaguar Wright got rained on. But not before C Boogie and Lady Bug Mecca did their thing. Don't worry, we will bring Jaguar back to CT and let you all get the chance to hear what 600 people heard during soundcheck on the 12th.
For all of you who missed out on Autumn Ashanti, the six year old poet who blew the whole place away, keep an eye out because you will be seeing plenty more of her in the near future. Many thanks to everyone who helped out with the event including LA, Rashaad, James, Tim, Don E Productions and staff, Playhouse on the Green, Fairfield Weekly, Culinarian Catering, Jams Deli, Gabriel, the Kultjah family, Read's Artspace, International Performing Arts, James Moss, Ray, Dave Schneider, Tarquin Studios, Jermaine, Danny Williams, Beth Picard, and of course the Downtown Special Services District for making the whole thing possible, especially Leila, Bob Keely, Phil Kuchma and Bill McPhail. We keep right on going with two events this week, come check us at the Acoustic Cafe - Wednesday night for Mics of the Roundtable and Friday for The Cut. See SPECIAL EVENTS for details. Another crazy week. C Boogie had Mr. Man of the Bush Babies in the studio last night recording a track for the upcoming album. Mr. Man played us some tracks from his upcoming album, he is truly a renaissance man - producing, arranging, singing, and rapping on this new material.
Our concert for the Sweetport Music and Arts Festival is getting plenty of shine in the press. Two cover pages today. Check out the interview and flyer on the front page of Spitkickers. Also, on the cover of the hometown rag, Fairfield Weekly. On a side note, don't miss the review of my cousin's restaurant, Coppia, in the same rag!! July 29, 2005, 3:02 pm

Hey, here's some news! Our very good friend, jare, has recently returned to Exotic Recording's 'Running Water Labs' studio to remix one of the tracks on his new album, "Heartache". The track is called "Don't Call" and you can hear it here. It's a smoking combination of jare's smooth grooves and delicious harmonies, interlaced with touch's headnoddin' backbeat. Don't be afraid to tell us what you think (email us at: jare@exoticrecordings.com). We have more new music in store when jare's done scoping out Spain, and plotting his musical conquests of the European continent!

Commercial Radio Play for The Saucers. That's news. Did you ever see that movie about the country song writers with River Phoenix and the girl that looks like Winona Ryder? And their friend hears his song on the radio and crashes into the car in front of him? That didn't happen to us. But, someone told us that we were on the radio, and we were excited.
Check it out - WPLR This is THE classic rock station for most of CT. We are sharing air space with our heroes such as Kiss, Led Zep, and you know what I mean. If you are looking for something to do, please call them and request that they play us again - 203-882-WPLR or 1-877-R-NICKEL (toll free). *touch adds - "I've been listening to that station forever! They rule...CT's best rock station, period." November 17, 2003, 6:05 pm

Look for the brow around every street corner.
